Last night the Airport Boulevard Redevelopment Project Team had a Review Forum and although it was a ton of information to soak in I think they are really on the right track. The emphasis of the night was more housing/mixed used density, better transitions into the neighborhoods, and safer and more mobility options.
They showed drawing of how they would like the Highland Mall and Middle Fiskville area to look and it was pretty amazing. You can see some of the ideas on their website, http://www.airportboulevard.com/.
The only thing that is hard to conceptualize is when and how this is all going to happen. I blogged earlier about the very long term Highland Mall plans and I am worried this is going to be the same way. I guess I need to just be a little bit more patient!
