For the best cheap Mexican food in the area you have to go to Cheko’s. What it lacks in atmosphere it definitely makes up for in $1 beers and great eats.
I recommend ordering off the a la carte menu, which gives you the option of sampling multiple things that range from $1.75 – $4.50. I always get the Al Pastor Gordita and it is truly delicious. I also recommend the Tortas and for $2.75 you can’t beat the price. The salsas are really good and they have a crazy, spicy green salsa that 
I think you have to request since they don’t always bring it out to the table with the regular red salsa.
What tops this place off is their Happy Hour, which runs everyday from 4-10pm or something crazy like that! During happy hour you can get draft beer for $1.00. I think they have Bud Light and Dos XX on draft, so obviously you order the Dos XX. The first time we went here we decided to try out the margaritas, 
but that was a complete fail. I literally couldn’t even drink it, but with $1 beers who needs margaritas anyway, right? As a disclaimer we got the margaritas on the rocks, so someone try out the frozen and tell me how it is.
I truly love Cheko’s. It really is a perfect quick, delicious and very inexpensive place to eat around the neighborhood. Check out Cheko’s at 1304 W. Koenig Lane.
